Meet The Team Profile - Clare Carnall

What made you decide to become a Tutor with Valkyrie?

I was looking for a new challenge that used the skills I had acquired whilst working as a Project Engineer in the automotive sector, and a Supplier Quality Engineer in power conversion, with emphasis on lean manufacturing techniques and Six Sigma quality control.

Why do you like working for Valkyrie?

I like meeting new people and being in different working environments from one day to the next, and the flexibility we have as tutors.  I also like the ongoing personal development that is a strong part of Valkyrie culture, as well as training learners I too have achieved two L3 NVQ qualifications.

What makes Valkyrie different to other training providers in your view?

The relationships we build with our learners, as a smaller company we can apply more of a personal approach to meeting the needs of the learner as an individual, as well as the needs of the company they work for, we tailor how we work to the needs of our customer.

What key advice would you give to someone thinking about training with Valkyrie?

Go for it, challenge yourself.  You’ll be surprised at what you can achieve.

What have been the highlights of your time as a Valkyrie Tutor to date?

The sense of pride I get when I hand over a set of certificates.  Having watched a learner grow and develop their knowledge with your help, especially when leaners who always felt they weren’t very academic, achieve recognised qualifications, is always good.  I get a strong sense of accomplishment when my learners develop a new sense of confidence in themselves from the skills I have helped them to nurture.

What are your personal and professional aspirations?

I think being a tutor is the vocation for me.  I want to continue to do what I’ve found I enjoy, maybe progress to become an IQA, to broaden my skill set further.
